(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – A recent poll has brought encouraging news for former President Donald Trump showing he’s closing in on Joe Biden among young voters.
The Axios + Generation Lab Youth poll surveyed 1,073 U.S. adults aged between 18 and 34 and found that 48 percent would vote for Trump, while 52 percent would support Biden “if the election were held today.”
This is a significant shift from the 2020 presidential election when Biden led Trump by 20 points among Gen Z and millennial voters, according to Pew Research Center.
Political scientist Neil O’Brian from the University of Oregon said “We don’t know enough yet. But this idea that young people are going to keep populating into the Democratic Party? There are some question marks around that.”
Biden holds a stronger lead among those young adults who are certain they will vote in November. Of the 42 percent of participants who stated they are definitely going to vote, 63 percent said they would choose Biden.
The poll also showed the economy as the top issue for young voters ahead of the upcoming election, with 39 percent saying it matters most to them. This was followed by abortion at 16 percent, and student debt and immigration, both at 11 percent. Climate change and gun policy were also mentioned, with 10 percent and 7 percent respectively saying these issues are their top concern.
This Axios + Generation Lab Youth poll conducted from February 3-14 aligns with other surveys showing Trump’s growing popularity among young voters.
For instance a New York Times/Siena poll in December showed Trump leading Biden by six points among voters under 30. Similarly an NBC News poll in November had Trump ahead of Biden by four points among voters under 35.
With a margin of error of ±3 percentage points, the results of this latest poll show that the Democratic party is losing more and more terrain with each passing day, and they can’t even keep their most loyal support base over the years.
