Kamala Mocked

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In much-deserved ridicule of Kamala Harris, a GOP US Senator, Rick Scott of Florida, has asked the vice president, who is also billed by the Biden administration as its “border czar,” to preside over the impeachment trial of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the migrant invasion.

In a move “trolling” Harris, Scott sent a letter to Harris, suggesting that she oversee the impending impeachment trial of Mayorkas in the US Senate due to her responsibilities regarding the Southern Border.

The border has been violated by over 10 million illegal immigrants on her and President Joe Biden’s watch so far.

“When President Biden appointed you as the ‘border czar’ in early 2021, he tasked you with ‘stemming the migration to our southern border,” the GOP senator wrote.

“In accepting that appointment, you acknowledged a need ‘to deal with the root causes’ of the flows of illegal immigration across our southern border,” he added.

“As such, you should be keenly interested in learning whether a high-ranking member of your administration is one of those ‘root causes’ through his willful and persistent refusal to enforce our country’s immigration laws, frustrating the very core function of your role as President Biden’s ‘border czar,’” Scott (R-FL) concluded.

The House of Representatives has charged Mayorkas with failing to uphold federal immigration laws, misleading Congress about border security, and ignoring subpoenas.

The Constitution dictates that the Chief Justice oversees impeachment trials for presidents, while the Vice President or the Senate president pro tempore presides over those for federal judges and Cabinet members.

The Senate requires a two-thirds majority for conviction, unlike the House’s simple majority for impeachment approval.

Senate president pro tempore Patty Murray (D-WA) is expected to lead the Senate trial, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) appointing her to the role.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the trial’s outcome in the Democrat-majority Senate, a Senate GOP aide expressed belief in the potential for Mayorkas’ removal, The New York Post reports.

Meanwhile, Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) criticized the House GOP leadership and predicted the impeachment’s failure in the Senate, mirroring the fate of his national security bill.

The House appointed 11 GOP managers to argue for Mayorkas’ conviction, marking him the second Cabinet official to be impeached in US history, following Secretary of War William Belknap in 1867.
