NOW: Terrorists Impacting Commerce

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a desperate effort to avoid billions in losses and danger to crew members due to a deadly group of armed Muslim terrorists and its escalating aggression in the Red Sea, over one hundred container ships have already been compelled to take the longer route around the Horn of Africa.

This significant deviation from their usual path, a necessary measure to avoid potential attacks, results in an additional seven to fourteen days of transit for these vessels.

This change in route, driven by security concerns, is poised to increase shipping costs, impacting economies worldwide, particularly those heavily reliant on the efficient maritime trade facilitated by the Red Sea, a crucial artery in global commerce linking Europe and Asia.

The Red Sea, a vital passage connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean through Egypt’s Suez Canal, accommodates 12% of the world’s trade.

The current rerouting disrupts the most efficient trade route between Europe and Asia and challenges global supply chains.

Yemen’s Houthi, an Islamist militant group backed by Iran, have intensified their offensive, initially targeting ships linked to Israel and then expanding their attacks to include vessels from countries allied with Israel.

This escalation is an extension of the broader Israel-Hamas conflict, raising the stakes in the region.

The U.S. has yet to implement a decisive military response to these developments, although U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has announced “Operation Prosperity Guardian.”

This initiative, involving multiple countries, aims to enhance security in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, ensuring safe navigation and regional stability.

Despite this announcement, the timing for the activation of Operation Prosperity Guardian remains uncertain, and no direct U.S. military action has been reported in the region. For now, the U.S. continues to prioritize diplomacy in addressing these challenges.
