Zelenskyy Says THIS Would End War with Russia

Volodymyr Zelenskyy

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared the war caused by Russia’s invasion of his country would end if Russian President Vladimir Putin dies suddenly.

On Christmas Eve, it will be ten months since Putin sent the Russian military to attack Ukraine, hoping for a swift victory to restore the former Soviet empire in some form. Such an outcome may have shattered the Western alliance and allowed Moscow to dominate Europe.

However, the Ukrainians resisted fiercely and, armed with top-notch US weapons, inflicted huge losses upon the invaders.

The official Ukrainian count says 96,000 Russian servicemen have been killed in battle – not counting the mercenaries and proxies, while some 20,000 pieces of Russian military hardware have been destroyed.

Zelenskyy’s assessment that Putin’s death would end the war came in an interview former TV host David Letterman did with him in October for his Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”

“Let’s just say that Putin got a really bad cold and died. Or accidentally fell out of a window and died. Would this continue?” Letterman asked during the interview conducted in Kyiv’s subway.

“No. There would be no war. There wouldn’t be,” Ukraine’s leader said.

That is because Russia’s political system provides the president with tremendous power, he argued.

“The authoritarian regime is dangerous as it poses great risks. Because you can’t allow just one person to have total control over everything. That’s why when such a person is gone, institutions come to a halt,” said Zelenskyy.

“That’s what happened back in the Soviet Union. Everything collapsed. And that’s why I think if he’s gone, it will be hard for them. They will have to deal with their internal policy rather than foreign issues,” the Ukrainian president elaborated.

He added that many Russians believed Putin’s lies about the war and had no touch with the reality that their country was losing badly, while others were aware but were afraid to act against the regime.

At the same time, Putin’s imperialist ambitions are taking a hefty toll on Ukrainian families.

“We have no need to explain anything about victory to our children. Trust me, they know more about the war than we do,” Zelenskyy said.

“My son is 9 years old. He knows the names of all the weapons. And he didn’t learn them from me. They are deeply immersed in the war,” he added.

“On the one hand, Putin stole childhood from our children. But on the other hand, we can say, that each of us should make sacrifices for the sake of our country. Our children sacrificed their childhood,” the Ukrainian leader declared.
